Black Guillemot (Cepphus grylle) - 31Jul2018 & 26Dec2018

Black and white with some red thrown in, what better color scheme could you ask for?  I was fortunate enough to get killer views of these beautiful alcids while staying at a friends summer home on Cushing's Island in Maine.  I had to scale some cliffs at low tide to get to where they were nesting, but it was worth it.

Then at the end of my 2018 Big Year, I lucked into one off Jeannette's Pier on the OBX.  Well maybe it was not luck as someone else found it first (Jacob F) but it was luck that it was still there by the time I drove 5 hours to see it.  It was gone in the morning.
