Tropical Pewee (Contopus cinereus) - 13Apr2019

Pewees are difficult to ID especially when you have several different species flying around at the same time.  I was in the Yucatan as spring migration was heating up and had both Eastern Wood-pewees and Tropical Pewees in the same tree.

Here is the note I put in my eBird checklist about this particular Pewee photographed at Cenote Verde Lucero: "Shorter wing projection and yellow-orange upper and lower mandible without dark tip. Trilling call almost like kingbird."
