This is a big tern and with a striking dorsal pattern. Unfortunately we only saw them at a distance, so I hope to reacquaint them some day and I probably will as they are found throughout South America. This one was seen at a spot called Camino KM4 which is telling because it is basically a stop on the side of the road that leads down an unmarked road into a rural area with marsh lands.
