Cuban Oriole (Icterus melanopsis) - 30Dec2016

Interesting factoid from one of the Cornell websites:
Until recently considered Cuban Oriole was classified as only a subspecies of Greater Antillean Oriole, which is now treated as four species - with one each on the Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico- yet until as recently as 2000, allof these taxa also were considered to be conspecific with Black-cowled Oriole (Icterus prosthemelas) of Middle America!
