Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) - 03May2015

Tree swallows are our most abundant swallow in NC (I have seen flocks of thousands) but based on their aesthetics are probably the best too.  An iridescent blue color matched with the economy of style that a two tone color scheme offers, they are truly a good looking bird.

Here is one photographed somewhere up on the Blue Ridge north of Asheville in 2017.

This one was photographed in one of my favorite NC small towns, Valle Crucis.  They nest up there and unfortunately steal Bluebird boxes.  Taken in 2015.
