Fernandina's Flicker (Colaptes fernandinae) - 03Jan2017

Our last foray to Soplillar finally netted us the endemic, rare and elusive Fernandina's Flicker.  These beauties compete for nesting cavities with West Indian Woodpeckers, Bare-legged Owls and other birds in the area.  They are not doing very well as the native palm species decline.
