This particular "covey" was at Sutton Lake and I wonder if they were released birds as they were quite fearless. This was taken with my old camera but I don't know if I will ever get this close to them again.

Northern Bobwhite (Colinus virginianus) - 17Feb2015
This unfortunate bird is slowly being extirpated in NC by Elmer Fudd and his hunting buddies. Of course habitat destruction doesn't help. Not only are they being hunted and forced out of prime habitat, but they have quite an unfortunate latin name.
