Woodcocks are probably more prevalent than it seems because they hide out really well and do not typically hang out in populated areas. However, when there is a heavy snow, they do tend to stick out more as they have no place to camouflage in. This one was at my friend Sam's house in Wilmington. Most of the snow had melted by then and the woodcock was sunning itself in the leaf litter.
