Green-winged Teal (Anas crecca) - 13Feb2015 and others

These little ducks are gorgeous if you can close to them.  The bird blind at Pea Island on the OBX is the best place in NC to photograph them.


This one was photographed at Lake Tomahawk in the NC mountains and seemed somewhat tame but this was back before my first crusher.


I also have a couple record shots of the European sub-species.


The above picture is from Pea Island in 2021 where we had a European one hanging out with the American ones for a nice comparison.  Note the horizontal white stripe on the bird in the foreground compared with the vertical one on the one in the background.

This one is from Lisbon, Portugal in 2014.
