Update: We got great looks at a Crane Hawk doing what it does best on my trip to the Pantanal in Brazil. Crane Hawks use their long legs to probe tree cavities for prey.
Original post: I love it when I pick out a bird on a trip that we didn't end up seeing again. This quick fly by of a Crane Hawk at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla was especially interesting as it had a mouse or lizard in its clutches. Actually, raptors ended up being very sparse throughout the Colombia trip so it was good to see this one. I plan to reacquaint myself to this species and obtain better pics.
