Rufous-chested Dotterel (Zonibyx modestus) - 18Feb2022

A monotypic bird, the Rufous-chested Dotterel is in its own Genus.  They are found on the coasts of extreme south Argentina and Chile and also the Falkland Islands.  We had ours during our trip to Antarctica when we landed back in Ushuaia, Argentina.  There was a COVID lockdown in effect which meant Matt and I would have to stay in a hotel and not leave the grounds while we waited for our connecting flight.  We decided to sneak out.  We weren't planning to mingle with the local population anyway, we were looking for birds!  And we found them in the harbor area including this Dotterel.
