An absolute cracker of a Hummingbird, these are obviously found at high elevations in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. We had them in a couple spots on my second trip to Colombia including the Montezuma Rainforest Reserve and Ukuku Lodge. It is the only species in its genus, but it is kind of reminiscent of the Violet-crowned Hummingbird we see in Arizona.
