Violet-capped Woodnymph (Thalurania glaucopis) - 09Aug2022

This gem is found throughout southeast Brazil but also spills over into neighboring countries to the south.  We had a few during our short stay in the Sao Paulo area but they were not easy to find because of the total lack of hummingbird feeders in Brazil.  However, there was no shortage of flowers.  ID is easy due to the long tail.

This is one of the species that will steal nectar by piercing the base of flowers.
