Now that people all over the world are learning the bird feeding techniques of Angel in Ecuador, it is opening up all kinds of new possibilities in terms of seeing birds close up that are normally very difficult to see. The good people of Apia Birding Lodge in Colombia have learned this technique to bring in Chestnut Wood-Quail. Obviously this is a different situation than with Antpittas but overall the same concept applies, keep calling and feeding the birds so they grow accustomed to people and come in for some treats. I think the benefits of increasing interest in these birds probably outweighs the negative aspects of impacting the bird's natural wariness of humans.
