This was the best bird of 2024 for me! I have only been looking for these a couple times so I shouldn't really call it a nemesis bird, but it has been one that I have had in my sights for a long time. Everything finally came together on my recent trip to Colorado at Medicine Bow Curve in the Rocky Mountain National Park. I am not much of an ear birder due to my poor high frequency hearing, but I clearly heard these clucking like chickens which helped me to locate them despite the amazing camouflage.
