Everyone loves turkey! This large and tasty bird is native to North America and has been the symbol of Thanksgiving for as long as the USA has existed. Although one story has suggested that Benjamin Franklin proposed the Turkey as the national bird over the Bald Eagle, it isn't quite accurate. He commented in a letter to his sister that he thought the Eagle was a bad choice because it made its living by stealing its food from other species and that the Turkey was probably a more noble bird.
