White-vented Plumeleteer Chalybura buffonii) - 02Aug2019

This species is fairly wide-spread in northern South America, but I have only seen a handful of times.  My best looks where on my first trip to Colombia at the El Dorado Nature Reserve in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.  Unfortunately I did not get a great pic with the white vent showing and in fact my pics are a little misleading because the tail is showing some bronze color in the tail which would lead one to believe it might be a Bronze-tailed Plumeleteer.  However, that species has much more bronze coloring and is found further west in Colombia.  The default in the Santa Marta range is the White-vented.
