Sapphire-bellied Hummingbird - 29Jul2019

This was the star of the show at Via Parque Isla de Salamanca and the main reason for making this stop between Barranquilla and Santa Marta in Colombia.  It is a Colombian endemic and only lives in the coastal swampy mangroves where it feeds on Mangrove blooms.  We were really worried as we couldn't find any blooming mangroves but did finally find one as we were leaving and it did not take long for one of these gems to show, although it was far from cooperative.
