A trip to Antarctica is an amazing journey that is full of awesome sights. One of them is the Snowy Sheathbill! What a strange and interesting bird. It is the only "land bird" native to Antarctica. There are only two birds in this genus, the other being the Black-faced Sheathbill. Antarctica is a tough place to live, so these birds are opportunistic.
From Wiki:
"The sheathbills are scavengers and opportunistic feeders, consuming invertebrates, faeces, and carrion—including seal afterbirth and stillborn seal pups—between the tidelines. They also take chicks and eggs from penguins and cormorants.
The bird has also been observed to directly pilfer milk from the elephant seals’ teats."
You heard correctly, they eat poop among other things.
