My photos of this species are substandard but who knows when and if I will ever see them again. They inhabit gallery forests in Colombia and Venezuela but in areas I will probably not revisit for a long time. We had them in my first trip to Colombia in the Santa Marta range in the northeastern section of Colombia. The white central tail feathers make them stand out from their other piculet cousins.
