The Brown-breasted Parakeet, also known as the Flame-winged Parakeet, is another Colombian endemic that is threatened, this one with a status of Vulnerable by IUCN criteria. This species is found at high elevations on the eastern slope of the Andes. We had good scope views but it was certainly not cooperating for photos, electing to stay at the top of a massive tree among the epiphytes. There is estimated to be 3300 to 6700 adult birds remaining.
