Orange-crowned Oriole (Icterus auricapillus) - 01Aug2019

Orioles can be a tricky bunch of birds to ID in some places, but after studying them for a little, it gets easier.  Orange-crowned Orioles inhabit the northern portions of Venezuela, Colombia and some of Panama.  As the name implies, they do have an orange crown, but what is notable is that the orange is a deeper color than the orange on its body.  We saw them at quite a distance on our first trip to Colombia while we ate lunch at a roadside soda overlooking a river.
