This endangered and endemic Parakeet was a major target for us on my first visit to Colombia. There is estimated to be only 1800 to 3200 mature individuals left and they are believed to be decreasing mainly due to loss of habitat. They nest in native palm trees which are quickly losing ground to non-native eucalyptus trees.
