The Blue-and-black Tanager is a very high elevation tanager species from Venezuela down to Bolivia. In fact, they are one of the only tanager species that are found near the tree line. We had these up at the top of the Camino Montezuma in Colombia's western cordillera and then again at Rio Blanco which is where the below photo is from.
