Chestnut-backed Chickadee (Poecile rufescens) - 14Apr2023 & 31May2021

What is not to love about this species or chickadees in general for that matter?  They are cute, inquisitive and fearless.  Chestnut-backed Chickadees are most closely related to Boreal Chickadees and perhaps represent an incursion south from a common ancestor.  The Chestnut Chickadee inhabits the west coast from Alaska down through California.  These pictures are from coastal Oregon and California.
