Black-crowned Palm-tanager (Phaenicophilus palmarum) - 22Dec2024

This Hispaniolan endemic is probably one of my favorite birds seen on my trip to the Dominican Republic.  They are quite common when you get high enough.  I didn't see any near there coast but I suppose they can be down there too.  They have one other genus mate, the Gray-crowned Palm-Tanager but that one is restricted to Haiti which I will probably not be visiting any time soon.
