The Red-bellied Macaw has a large range throughout South America, mainly in the Amazon Basin but it extends out from there. The southern extent goes down to the Pantanal area of Brazil and the other countries bordering in that area. We saw ours in the Pantanal. Oddly enough, even though this is one of the more common Macaws, we only saw one fly-by flock. This is the largest of the "mini-macaws" which is kind of like saying it is a mid-sized macaw.
