Violet-green Swallows normally live from the northern reaches of Alaska during breeding season all the way down to Central America in winter. They only extend as far east as Texas. Regardless of the Swallowgate incident, we did have one later in North Carolina and I suspect we will have more. They can be challenging to ID on the wing due to similarities with Tree Swallows, but if you get one up close in good light they are easy to ID.
