Smith's Longspur was a long awaited lifer for me and the last of the North American Longspurs to add for my ABA list but also my North Carolina list. Someone found this beauty at Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge in Currituck County and got the word out. I couldn't get out there for a week but luckily it stuck around. They normally breed in far northern Alaska and Canada and spend winters in the US Southern states including Texas and Oklahoma.
