The genus Leistes includes 5 species of meadowlark in South America which is decidedly separate from the genus of North American meadowlarks. The White-browed has a wide range in the lower half of South America including a strip on the east side of Brazil. Its closest relative is the Red-breasted Meadowlark which looks similar but doesn't have the white supercilia and lives in the upper half of South America. I had mine in eastern Brazil on my second trip to that beautiful country. We actually had them many times, but usually they are way off in a field.
