This Brazilian endemic is a Near Threatened species which inhabits a small strip of forest in Bahia State. It used to be conspecific with Black-capped and Creamy-bellied Antwrens but was split in the early 2000s. It is considered to be a sister species with Black-capped Antwrens which we also saw on this trip. I photographed this one in the forest near Porto Seguro in Bahia State.
