This "grosbeak" is actually in the Saltator genus with 14 saltator species and one other bird that has Grosbeak in the name. Oddly enough, even the Blue Grosbeak is not in the same genus as other "grosbeaks". Grosbeak is really more of a description of the large bill than it is a genetic linkage. The Black-throated Grosbeak has a large range in South America, mostly in southeastern Brazil, but also a bit into Paraguay and Argentina. We had this one in Boa Nova National Park in Bahia State, Brazil.
